About Yamato Cemetery, Salinas

With the purchase of just over two acres of land in 1908 by the Japanese Association of Salinas, the Yamato Cemetery became a reality. Located on Abbott Street in South Salinas, the cemetery has been the final resting place for members of Monterey County’s Japanese community since 1911.

Over the decades the cemetery has been upgraded and improved with fencing and maintained by a board of dedicated individuals. In 1959, the Japanese Association Cemetery deed was transferred to the Salinas Valley Japanese American Citizens League (JACL).

Jed and Debbie are both very focused on detail and excel at unique and beautiful designs. They value each person who walks in their door, and their familiarity with the cemeteries' rules make it so families can be at ease and know they are in the best of hands.
